About the Washington DC General Knowledge Test

Driving a commercial vehicle in Washington DC isn't like driving anywhere else. You'll navigate narrow streets like Independence Ave SW, share lanes with tour buses, and dodge sudden road closures near federal buildings. Our practice test covers exactly what you need to know for the DC DMV exam.

DC weather adds another layer. Summer thunderstorms can flood underpasses on I-295. Winter ice makes the 11th Street Bridges slick. The General Knowledge test includes questions about adverse driving conditions – we've got those covered.

DC's economy runs on government contracts, tourism, and construction. That means lots of delivery trucks, dump trucks, and tour buses on the road. You'll need to know how to handle cargo, inspect your vehicle, and obey special DC traffic laws. Our 50 questions reflect those real-world demands.

Pass the DC DMV General Knowledge test on your first try. Practice with us, then show up confidently at the DC DMV's 95 M Street SW location. You've got this.

What This Test Covers

  • Pre-Trip Inspection – DC DMV checks your vehicle extra carefully because you'll drive near embassies and schools.
  • Basic Vehicle Control – Master tight right turns on streets like E Street NW without hitting curbs.
  • Air Brakes – You'll use them on DC's steep hills near Georgia Ave. Know the system inside out.
  • Hazardous Materials – Tourists cause chaos; you'll need to handle hazmat placards and emergency responses.
  • Adverse Driving Conditions – Rain, fog, and snow on the Potomac bridges – know when to slow down or stop.
  • Combination Vehicles – Pulling trailers through DC's alleyways? Learn coupling and uncoupling procedures.
