Utah DMV Information
You can take the General Knowledge test at any Utah DMV office that offers CDL testing. Major locations include Salt Lake City (210 W 2100 S), Provo (150 E Center St), Ogden (3150 Grant Ave), and St. George (1664 S Convention Center Dr). Most offices open Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Appointments are required – book yours at dmv.utah.gov.
The test fee is $25 per attempt. Pay by credit card, debit card, or cash. If you pass, you'll receive a CDL permit. The permit costs another $50. It's valid for 12 months. You must hold it for at least 14 days before taking the skills test.
Bring your current Utah driver license, proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful presence, and a medical examiner's certificate if you plan to drive interstate. If you already have a medical card from your doctor, keep it handy. The DMV won't issue your permit without it.
